In ages past, the elvish gods forged the world and all that it contains. When they were finished, they passed the right of creation to the high elvish king, and departed this world. This power was too great for any elf to wield freely, so before they left the gods fused the power of magic with the language of the elves.

For an age the elvish high king forged creation as he saw fit, until he passed the knowledge of magic to those he trusted most. In this way, all elves were given the power to shape creation, but with every elf that learned the power the strength was diminished until the power of the divine was no more. Since that day, only strength of will has provided the power of magic, and the gods have never since been seen.
